Vanguard Realty was founded in Orange Park in 1977. Its co-founder, Pete Dalton, became the sole owner of the company in 1981 and joined the Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Network in 1982. Founded on the belief that the real estate experience could be improved for all parties the company was a market leader from its inception focusing on agent development and quality personalized service. More concerned with quality than quantity Vanguard was satisfied to remain in the Orange Park market until the late 1990s at which time it began to explore other markets.
In the late 1990's through the mid-2000's the company used superior technology and programs to grow to a total of over 20 offices in both North Florida and the Florida Keys. By using tools other agencies did not have Vanguard, and its sister company Schwartz Property Sales, which is still located in the Florida Keys, grew to be market leaders in both markets.
In 2010 Mr. Dalton had the opportunity to purchase the Coldwell Banker franchise in North Florida. Long a believer that nationally Coldwell Banker is the strongest real estate brand with the best tools in the real estate industry he purchased the franchise and set about making it the premier real estate brokerage in the market. He divested his Florida Keys brokerage by selling it to his managers, created the Concierge Service Department, built Connect U, developed VNET, the company's proprietary intranet, realigned services and created a real estate brokerage that is annually a leader in growth and innovation.
